LG Electronics ANZ has introduced the StanbyME 2 portable smart screen to the Australian market, offering enhancements in both design and functionality over its predecessor.
The StanbyME 2 features a 27-inch QHD display and is built around a portable concept, allowing users to move and use the device throughout their home or in different environments. The screen can be detached from the rolling stand and either wall-mounted using an included strap and holder or used flat on a surface with a folio cover. When kept on its rolling stand, users can tilt, rotate, and swivel the display up to 90 degrees, catering to various viewing needs around the house, whether for streaming, presentations, or gaming.
Recognised by an iF Design Award 2025 in the Product Design category, the StanbyME 2’s design emphasises portability and flexibility. Judges noted its lightweight build and battery-powered detachable screen, highlighting the product’s intention to meet contemporary demands for adaptable home technology.
At LG, we aim to provide our customers with innovations that enhance how they enjoy their favourite content. We recognise the growing demand for technology that adapts to modern viewing habits and flexible living environments and that’s why we engineered the StanbyME 2. It delivers practical portability while maintaining the premium viewing experiences LG is known for. It’s designed to be a versatile companion for modern homes – a flexible screen solution that easily integrates into different aspects of the day, ensuring entertainment is both convenient and high-quality.
The 27-inch display offers QHD (2560×1440) resolution, providing improved picture quality compared to the original StanbyME. Powered by the LG Alpha 8 AI processor, the device applies artificial intelligence to adjust brightness automatically to ambient lighting and optimise audio and visual output, according to LG claims. AI Sound Pro and AI Clear Sound are included to process and enhance the audio, delivering virtual 9.1.2-channel sound from its side-mounted speakers, while support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is present to further enrich audiovisual experiences.
The StanbyME 2 is equipped with a built-in battery that can run for up to four hours under conditions such as eco mode, moderate volume, Wi-Fi connected, and continuous playback. This facilitates the unit’s core selling point of portability, allowing users to view content wirelessly, even outside the typical living space.
LG’s webOS platform is included, providing access to major streaming services directly via the screen with no external devices required. Notable compatibility features remain, such as Apple AirPlay and Google Cast for screen mirroring from personal devices, as well as new support for USB-C charging and various input connections including HDMI and Bluetooth.
The webOS Re:New program will ensure software support and updates for up to five years from purchase, maintaining access to new features and security improvements during that period.
Touchscreen controls are available for direct interaction with apps, playback, and settings, complementing an included remote control that can attach magnetically to either the screen or folio cover. Hands-free control is also an option with voice recognition activated by the greeting, ‘Hi LG’, should users choose to enable voice features.
Beyond entertainment and streaming, the device comes pre-loaded with a drawing application called Let’s Draw and can display various built-in visuals including art, music-themed graphics, nature scenes, and a digital clock. Through the LG Content Store, users can download additional games and use the device as a digital board game table for titles such as Chess, Memory Game, and Billion Marble.
Connectivity options are designed for flexibility, allowing the StanbyME 2 to serve as an interface for laptops, gaming consoles, and set-top boxes using HDMI or USB-C connections, in addition to its wireless capabilities.
The LG StanbyME 2 is being launched in Australia with a recommended retail price of AUD $2,199 and will be sold through the LG online store and leading electronics retailers.
