(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Area native Elisabeth Wykert has found growing success on social media since the tip-off of her observational and dance comedy during the pandemic. She is now doing multiple shows in the area.
Wykert’s comedy styling comes from inspired acts like other names in the entertainment scene or on social media. However, also drawing ideas from classic television shows such as the Carol Burnett show or other classics that might be found from the channel TV Land.
Despite racking up over a million followers on her social media accounts, Wykert is always looking to entertain and surprise with new ideas.
“I still don’t know what’s going to work. It’s just working right now. Okay? Every every time I step out on a stage, I’m like, is anybody going to find this funny? And every time they do okay, which is always a relief,” Wykert shared. “Even though I keep getting great feedback, and obviously I do have a brilliant mind, and I have fun, and I know my energy is infectious, and I just find any way that I can kind of give my energy out because I feel like that’s just what the world needs.”
Also, with singing and stand-up, one of Wykert’s staples in entertainment is her videos on TikTok, where she can be found proudly dancing around St. Joseph and the northwest Missouri area.
“It’s changed so much five years of consistently putting in this work. But as of right now, my husband always films. He is my number one filmer, and we normally film one day a week, and that’s our primary videos of the week,” Wykert said. “I normally just get all my content one day a week, and then I post it out. I do all the editing myself because editing is also an art.”
While finding a following on social media, Wykert finds time to perform around the area and bring comedy shows to St. Joseph.
So far, she has been able to host shows at the Missouri Theater, bringing in top-tier talent to perform with.
“I’ve been in the industry for 10 years, plus I’ve met a really lot of awesome people. And my idea was, instead of traveling, because traveling was really hard,” said Wykert. “As long as it makes you laugh, anything goes, I don’t care. I just was like, Okay, let me bring in people that I know from all over the world who are headliners.”
Wykert will host a one-woman show at the Southern Roots Event Center in St. Joseph on May 31, 2025. This event will be a three-part show by Wykert. Her act will also be recorded as a special to be featured on a platform to be announced.
