Apple today announced the new visionOS 26 software update for the Apple Vision Pro spatial computer. The update brings with it some new features and improvements to existing ones.
Apple announced the visionOS 26 software during the WWDC 2025 opening keynote alongside similar updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.
The new updates are all available in the initial developer beta phase right now, but won’t be released to the public until this fall.
In terms of new features, Apple announced new spatial widgets for visionOS 26, making them customizable.
They can now be customized in terms of width, color, and depth and integrate into 3D space like never before.
Apple also announced Spatial Scenes, allowing people to take more realistic spatial photos. The company says that visionOS 26’s spatial photos are better than ever, “leveraging a new generative AI algorithm and computational depth to create spatial scenes with multiple perspectives, letting users feel like they can lean in and look around.”
The new spatial scenes can be viewed in the Photos app, the Spatial Gallery app, and Safari. API support for third-party apps is also present.
Finally, Apple announced that visionOS 26 will bring support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller. The move means that game developers can build apps that use high-performance motion tracking in six degrees of freedom. Finger touch detection and vibration support are also included.
