Pixel VIPs Not Showing After Android 16 Update

Google rolled out Android 16 yesterday for supported Pixel devices, bringing a range of subtle system enhancements. On the surface, the update feels more like a polished version of Android 15, as the full Material 3 Expressive UI redesign is expected later this year. However, some users have already run into an issue with Pixel VIPs not showing, despite the feature being one of the highlights of the update.

One standout feature in this update is the Pixel VIPs widget—highlighted in Google’s official Android 16 announcement and now integrated into the Contacts app. Pixel VIPs aims to streamline communication with your favorite people by showing recent interactions, shared locations, and event details. You can even allow VIPs to bypass Do Not Disturb, so you never miss something important.

But many users have taken to Reddit and Google support forums to report a common issue: Pixel VIPs not showing on their devices after the update. One such support thread has gained over a hundred upvotes, with others echoing the same frustration.

If you’re experiencing Pixel VIPs not showing on your device, here are a few steps you can take:

Update your apps via the Play Store – Ensure both the Pixel VIPs service and the Contacts app are fully updated.

Open the Contacts app and go to the “Organize” tab – You should find “Pixel VIPs” under the “Google” section. If it’s available, follow the setup process.

If the option still doesn’t appear, you may be part of a phased rollout. A Google product expert on the support forums addressed the issue directly:

“Check for App updates via the Play Store, look for the Pixel VIPs app being installed. Once it is, the Contacts widget and menu will be available. It’s possible that the VIPs app is released in waves, be patient.”

Although there’s no official timeline, it’s expected that the feature will reach all users “within the next few days.” In the meantime, you can also try checking for a Play System update via Settings → About phone → Android version → Google Play system update. Apply any available updates and restart your device.

If Pixel VIPs not showing continues to be a problem even after these steps, you’re likely just in the rollout queue. Patience is key—since it’s part of the June Pixel Drop, the feature is definitely on its way.

Let us know in the comments when the Pixel VIPs widget finally shows up for you!
