Looking to jailbreak iOS 18.5 on your iPhone or iPadOS 18.5 on your iPad? Here’s the latest status update so that you have everything that you need to know ahead of time.
Jailbreaking isn’t as popular as it once was, but there is still a dedicated group of people who like to do things to their Apple devices that the company doesn’t condone.
With the release of iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5, the obvious question is where does that leave those people? The last time a jailbreak was released for the latest iPhone and iOS version was back in 2019. That seems unlikely to change any time soon, and that’s bad news if you’re a fan of jailbreaking.
While there have been jailbreak tools like checkra1n getting updated from time to time, they only support devices like iPhone X and older, and since iPhone X doesn’t run the latest version of iOS, there really hasn’t been much to talk about in the jailbreak scene for a long time now.
Thankfully, jailbreaking isn’t as big a deal as it once was because Apple has steadily added new features to iOS that were only previously available via tweaks. Background app refresh. push notifications, and more are some examples. And new features are being added all the time.
As for what that means for iOS 18.5, the situation is as you might expect — there simply isn’t a jailbreak available right now. However, things can change at any moment, so we can’t say that there won’t be a jailbreak in the future.
As for now, we recommend updating to the latest version of iOS that your hardware can run. That ensures that you have the latest software fixes and security updates available to you.
