With beta 1 of iOS 26 out for developers today, many of you might be wondering if it’s safe to upgrade your primary iPhone to it today.
While Apple suggests waiting for at least public beta coming in July, the general public wont get it until fall of this year alongside new iPhone launch.
Now if you can’t wait and want to upgrade to iOS 26 beta 1 today, you should know that at this stage it’s very buggy with a lot of issues. Here we highlight some of the issues we have found so far on an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Your mileage may vary.

iOS 26 Beta 1 Bugs And Known Issues
- Once you go into Control Center, you can’t press out of it.
- Click doesn’t move on Sleep focus when music cover is full screen
- Screen brightness capped at half the maximum on some iPhone models
- Personal Hotspot no longer works on some carriers
- Wireless CarPlay has intermittent connection issues
- Spatial effects on Lock Screen photos are janky or downscaled
- Unable to check for update error in Software Update
- Safari on iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 may have issue when syncing bookmarks with non-iOS 26 devices
- Safari can lose open tabs randomly
- Time and date not aligned when music is playing on the lock screen
- Some people have reported issue when logging their Apple account on a device set up as new on iOS 26
- Apple Maps text is black on black when locked
- Dragging PWA webpages icons on Home Screen causes Springboard crash
