Honor 400-series drops with ridiculous AI camera prowess

Honor has officially expanded its smartphone lineup with the launch of the Honor 400 Pro 5G and Honor 400 5G; two AI-powered handsets built for photography enthusiasts.

With headline features like a 200MP Super Zoom camera and next-gen AI image tools, these phones aim to bring creative power to the palm of your hand.

    Honor 400 specs

The Honor 400 Pro 5G is the flagship in the new mid-range lineup from the Chinese superbrand, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of HONOR Turbo RAM, and 5G connectivity.

At the heart of its appeal is a 200MP Ultra-clear AI Main Camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.9 aperture, optical and electronic image stabilization, and an impressive 50x zoom.

This is joined by a 12MP ultra-wide and macro lens, and a 50MP Portrait Selfie Camera enhanced by Honor’s advanced portrait algorithm, produced in collaboration with Parisian studio, Harcourt.

What really sets it apart is the AI image processing suite. Users can animate static images with Google Cloud’s AI Image to Video feature, and then tweak them further with tools like Honor’s proprietary AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, AI Passer-by removal, and AI Remove Reflection.

Even better, the phone’s Moving Photo Collage feature lets users combine up to nine live images into one dynamic moment.

Backing all this up is a 5300mAh silicon-carbon battery, promising 33 hours of talk time and fast top-ups with 100W wired SuperCharge. With this, you’ll hit 50% in just 15 minutes.

The 6.7-inch AMOLED display reaches an eye-searing 5000 nits peak brightness and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Eye strain is reduced thanks to Honor’s AI Eye Comfort Display features including Dynamic Dimming and a Circadian Night Mode.

Rounding things out are 512GB storage, IP68/IP69 ingress protection, SGS-certified drop protection, and software longevity via six years of Android security and software updates.

This is the longest update commitment we’ve seen from a smartphone brand so far… I think…

The Honor 400 5G offers many of the same AI features and camera tools, but trims specs down a tad, with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 6.55-inch AMOLED display.

It still boasts a 200MP rear camera and a 50MP selfie lens, a large 5300mAh battery, and a 66W fast charge.

    Honor 400 pricing and availability

US KnowTechie readers take note: the Honor 400 series will not launch officially in the States, so you’ll need to import the global version of the device if you’re keen to get your hands on one.

In the UK, the Honor 400 Pro 5G is available from May 22 via Honor’s dedicated site, starting at £699.99 in Lunar Grey and Midnight Black.

The standard Honor 400 5G starts from £399.99 for the 256GB model, and £449.99 for the 512GB model. It’s available in Desert Gold, Lunar Grey, and Midnight Black.

Given the camera power and AI tools packed into both phones, that’s a strong value proposition, especially for creators and social-media-minded users.

    Prepare for photography perfection

Honor is clearly leaning into photography with their N-series. The Honor 400 Pro 5G is a device built not just to shoot pictures, but to create with them.

Whether you’re crafting portrait shots, AI-enhanced animations, or high-zoom compositions, the camera array and built-in tools give users an all-in-one content studio.

Thanks to AI innovations like Moving Photo Collage, Live Photos, and MagicOS 9.0 enhancements, Honor has built a platform that feels custom-built for creators, streamers, and anyone looking to elevate their everyday photography.

    Honor 400; available now

It’s not just about megapixels anymore, it’s about what you can do with them. And in that respect, the Honor 400 Pro 5G is pushing the bar higher than ever.

Full review to follow, and I will say this; so far, we’re very impressed with Honor’s latest little handset.

In the meantime, you can grab your own Honor 400 from the Honor store, now!
