Before I begin this review, I just want to say I am a fan of headphones in general over tiny earbuds. The reason I prefer headphones is that there’s less chance of them falling off your head. The last time I wore earbuds, I lost one of them in an Uber!
Thankfully, the Suunto Wing 2 headphones have a unique design that actually stays on your head. While most headphones go over the top of your head, these headphones have a hooked design that goes around the middle.
The real hook of these headphones is the comfortable curl that rests on top of your left and right ears. The design may look awkward at first, but they’re surprisingly sturdy, no matter how hard you shake your head. Unlike tiny earbuds, these are the type of audio hardware that I use on a daily run without any fears of it falling off.
The headphones also have a rubber-like texture that can stretch enough to fit the size of most people’s heads. The headphones are thankfully very easy to use as well because all you need to do is hold the power button for at least 5 seconds to turn them on and pair with any Bluetooth-enabled device.
As for the sound quality, the headphones are good, but they’re not as top-tier as the JBL Tour One M3 Headphones I reviewed a few months ago. I mean it’s a good pair of headphones to listen to music, but I won’t be using these to watch movies or play games with my Nintendo Switch 2.
The battery life is also not as long as some other headphones I have reviewed in the past. The headphones themselves have a 12 hour battery life, but this can be extended to 36 hours with the power bank that it comes with them. The power bank’s design looks cool, and it will stand out when you charge it.
The headphones come packaged with a nice carrying case, too. Even though the headphones are waterproof, the cloth carrying case ensures they will be nice and dry and free of any dust when it’s in storage.
The last thing I can say about the Suunto Wing 2 headphones is that they feature cool-looking LED safety lights. If you fear of a car running you over at night, hopefully, these LED lights are bright enough to make you more visible in the dark.
The only thing that might deter some people from buying these headphones is their high price. The official New Zealand Suunto website currently lists the Suunto Wing 2 for $349 NZD. As I have said in some other reviews in the past, probably only high income users will have enough money to spend this much on headphones.
All in all, the Suunto Wing 2 headphones are quite expensive, but they are a decent pair of audio hardware. It’s worth checking out if you’re like me and don’t want to use earbuds due to the fear of losing them.
