RJJ Boxing, Bareknuckle FC fights and athletes who surprise are part of the Fusion family
MIAMI, May 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The 2021 Brian Maxwell/Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson debut match was the first fight on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul main fight card. The Miami fight consisted of four two-minute rounds between Maxwell and Johnson. Johnson had played in the NFL for a decade, primarily as the Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver, with a total 67 career touchdowns, while Maxwell retired from MMA in 2019 and held a 2-2 MMA record during his professional career.
As an exhibition match, the fight wasn’t scored. But Maxwell managed to knock Johnson to the canvas halfway through the fourth round with an impressive right hook to Johnson’s jaw. Yahoo! Sports described it as “by far the most impressive moment of the fight,” while Fusion CBD Products-sponsored Maxwell graciously thanked Johnson for the honor of fighting his idol when speaking to media after the match.
Maxwell out-threw and out-landed Johnson on power punches, although Johnson managed to land 40% of his jabs. It was the power punches that counted in a short bout, however, and Maxwell landed 17% of his versus Johnson’s 10%.
