On April 26, Rolando Caabay (front, 3rd from left) was presented with the HIRAM Award – the highest honor a Master Mason in California can receive – by the Free & Accepted Masons of California, Naval Lodge No. 87 at the Springbrook Masonic Temple in Vallejo. (Courtesy of Nestor Aliga)On April 19 at the at the Vallejo Veterans Memorial Building, the United States Submarine Veterans – Mare Island Base held their every 3rd Saturday meeting with potluck, and their Vietnam War-era Veterans also received Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration lapel pins and memorabilia. On Monday, May 26, two Memorial Day ceremonies will be held: the first at 9:00 a.m. at the Mare Island Naval Cemetery at 167 O’Hara Court hosted by the National Cemetery Administration and Vallejo Navy League, and the second at 11:00 a.m. at the Vallejo Warriors’ Memorial at 3 Capitol Street behind City Hall hosted by the United Submarine Veterans – Mare Island Base and the Vallejo Veterans Memorial Building Council.
