Kansas City Chiefs standout wide receiver Rashee Rice has received a 30-day jail sentence and five years of probation for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas in 2024, ESPN reported Thursday.
Rice will reportedly be allowed to serve his 30-day jail sentence at any point during the five-year probation period, a Dallas judge ruled. However, the NFL will now be able to expedite its disciplinary process, with it being likely that Rice will receive a multi-game suspension, according to ESPN.
Dallas Police alleged that Rice was the driver of a Lamborghini Urus that was traveling 119 mph before being involved in a multi-car crash and leaving the scene on the North Central Expressway in Dallas on March 30, 2024. He was later charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury.
Rice was eligible to play in the 2024 NFL season, but he suffered an ACL tear in Week 4. The 25-year-old is expected to be healthy and ready to go when the Chiefs open training camp next week. Rice, a second-round pick in 2023, is beginning his third year in the league.
