The Apple TV+ movie F1 is set to debut soon, and a new trailer released to the Apple TV app includes a new haptic feature when viewed on an iPhone.
The trailer uses the iPhone’s vibration feature to add an additional layer of realism to the trailer. It does that by vibrating the iPhone’s Taptic Engine when on-screen content fits. You’ll feel the vibration as an F1 car flies across the screen.
For the feature to work, you’ll need an iPhone running iOS 18.4 or later and be watching the trailer via the Apple TV+ tab in the TV app.
As for the movie itself, it stars Brad Pitt and follows a driver who returns to the race track after a successful career in the 1990s.
Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition — and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
F1 will premiere in theaters in the United States on June 27 and around the rest of the world a little earlier, on June 25. It’ll be released on the Apple TV+ streaming service at a later date.
