Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has officially launched its latest budget smartphone, the HMD Aura2, in Australia. Priced at just AU169.00, the Aura2 is the newest addition to HMD’s growing affordability range. It offers a blend of performance, sustainability, and style for users who want modern features without a hefty price tag.

An evolution of the original HMD Aura, the Aura2 is equipped with Android 14 Go edition, delivering a smoother and more responsive experience tailored to the needs of everyday users. It follows the HMD Key, an AU$129.00 entry-level smartphone also powered by Android 14 Go, but the Aura2 offers a step up in both capability and creativity.

The standout feature of the Aura2 is its upgraded 13MP rear camera, which comes packed with a range of tools including Portrait mode, Night mode, Pro Mode, Slow Motion, Quick Snapshot, QR code scanning, Time Lapse, Filters, and Panorama. Combined with a 5MP front-facing camera and twelve built-in filters, the device provides budding photographers with the ability to capture and share high-quality content with ease.

Performance-wise, the Aura2 hits the base markers you’d expect from a phone that costs under AU$200.00. It is available in a model with up to 256 GB of storage, giving users ample space for apps, photos, and videos. Thanks to smart memory management, up to 4 GB of storage can be converted into virtual RAM, boosting overall device performance. Its large 5000mAh battery promises up to 51 hours of usage on a single charge. It is durability-tested to retain 80% of its capacity even after 800 charging cycles, ensuring it lasts over time.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the Aura2 also supports self-repair options, making it a conscious choice for environmentally aware consumers. With a vibrant display and durable build, the smartphone is ideal for users seeking a first device or an affordable upgrade without sacrificing functionality.

The HMD Aura2 is now available for $169 AUD through hmd.com and Harvey Norman, with broader availability coming soon at leading retailers across Australia.
