[SINGAPORE] Households may get lower electricity and gas prices for the months of July to September, as compared with the previous quarter, on the back of lower tariffs.

Grid operator SP Group on Monday (Jun 30) announced that electricity tariffs before goods and service tax (GST) for households will fall by 2.3 per cent or 0.65 cent per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from the prior quarter amid lower energy costs.

This translates to a decrease of S$2.36 before GST for average monthly electricity bills of families living in HDB four-room flats, SP Group said.

Overall electricity tariffs before GST, including tariffs for non-households, will fall by an average of 2.4 per cent or 0.65 Singapore cent per kWh, compared with the previous quarter, the grid operator said.

Meanwhile, households’ gas tariffs before GST will decrease by 0.44 cent per kWh, from 22.72 cents per kWh to 22.28 cents per kWh, for the months of July up till September, said piped gas producer and retailer City Energy in a separate statement on the same day.

This comes amid lower fuel costs compared with the previous quarter, City Energy said.

Tariffs for gas and electricity are reviewed on a quarterly basis, according to guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority.
