[SINGAPORE] The first session of Singapore’s 15th Parliament will open at 5 pm on Sep 5, Leader of the House Indranee Rajah announced on Friday (Jun 13).

This will be the first parliamentary sitting since Singapore elected its new government on May 3. The session will begin with the election of the Speaker of Parliament and the swearing-in of new Members of Parliament.

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will deliver an opening address to outline the government’s priorities, policies and programmes.

MPs will then debate the President’s Address from Sep 22 to 26. The various government ministries will also release their addenda to the address between those dates.
