EXCLUSIVE: Greenwich Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Omaha, the family drama starring Past Lives‘ John Magaro, which premiered to critical acclaim at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The film, marking the feature directorial debut of Cole Webley, will be released in theaters across the country later this year.

Set against the backdrop of the 2008 economic crisis, Omaha follows a struggling father (Magaro) who embarks on a road trip across the American West with his two children, Ella (Molly Belle Wright) and Charlie (Wyatt Solis), in search of hope and a better life. What begins as a seemingly spontaneous family journey gradually reveals deeper layers of both grief and resilience, as Ella starts to sense that her father’s intentions may be masking a more profound truth.

Written by Robert Machoian (The Killing of Two Lovers), Omaha is a Sanctuary Content production, in association with Kaleidoscope Pictures and Monarch Content. Recently, the film won the Jordan Ressler First Feature Award at the Miami Film Festival, along with the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Dallas Film Festival. In his review out of Sundance, Deadline’s Pete Hammond said, “Magaro’s performance is truly moving, capturing the desperation of a father trying to keep his family together.”

“I am thrilled to bring Omaha to audiences through a theatrical release and beyond with Greenwich,” Webley told us. “John Magaro delivers an unforgettable performance richly seeped in the complexities of Americana fatherhood. He continues to prove his ability to embody the transcendence of the everyman. Supported by an incredible discovery of talent and the heartbeat of Molly Belle Wright and Wyatt Solis, I can’t wait for you to meet this family.”

Omaha was produced by Preston Lee with executive producers Adam Thomas Anderegg, Nicholas Hill, Russ Kendall, Micah Merrill, and Nick Warner. Andy Bohn negotiated the deal for Greenwich, with UTA Independent Film Group representing the filmmakers.
