The Apple Vision Pro might not have taken over the world just yet, but that could well change when the technology becomes more affordable in the future.
Now, a new report suggests that a cheaper price isn’t the only change we can look forward to — according to a new report, Apple will add support for eye-based scrolling.
That’s according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman who reports that Apple is working on an Apple Vision Pro feature that will allow people to scroll through content in web browsers and more using just their eyes.
The eye-scrolling capability is being tested as part of visionOS 3, an upcoming version of the Vision Pro’s operating system, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Already, the headset lets users navigate the software by looking at objects and then selecting them by pinching their fingers.
Apple is expected to announce visionOS 3 during the WWDC event that will take place next month, although that software won’t be available until later this year. Gurman also recently said that Apple is working on a big new software release for the Apple Vision Pro this year, suggesting that we can expect more additions beyond this eye-tracked scrolling feature.
The visionOS 3 software update will be announced alongside new software for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Apple TV if the company sticks to its usual cadence. We also expect that initial beta versions of those software updates will be released to developers during WWDC, too.
