2025 MLB AL, NL Cy Young odds: Skenes, Skubal favored

    Pitching is on fire again.

Several stars on the mound — both fresh-faced and well-traveled — lit it up last season, including a rookie in Pittsburgh.

It’s nearly time to see which flamethrowers can etch their names in the MLB history books after the 2025 season.

Let’s take a look at the odds for the AL and NL Cy Young Awards at DraftKings Sportsbook as of April 29.

    American League Cy Young 2025

Tarik Skubal: +250 (bet $10 to win $35 total)
Garrett Crochet: +275 (bet $10 to win $37.50 total)
Max Fried: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Hunter Brown: +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total)
Cole Ragans: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)
Jacob deGrom: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)
Shane Baz: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)

What to know: Detroit’s Tarik Skubal was last season’s winner in the AL, and for good reason. So, it’s hardly a surprise to see him atop the oddsboard. Skubal won the pitching triple crown in the AL, leading his league in wins (18), strikeouts (228), and ERA (2.39). It was truly Skubal’s breakout year. The 28-year-old is off to a strong start in the 2025 season, with 40 strikeouts so far, and the Tigers currently lead the AL in total wins. However, Garrett Crochet is almost neck-and-neck with Skubal on the board. He was last season’s AL Comeback Player of the Year after returning from Tommy John surgery. Despite going just 6-12 as a member of the White Sox, he struck out a career-high 209 batters last season, and has struck out 44 this season.

    National League Cy Young 2025

Paul Skenes: +175 (bet $10 to win $27.50 total)
Yoshinobu Yamamoto: +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total)
Hunter Greene: +550 (bet $10 to win $65 total)
Logan Webb: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total)
Zack Wheeler: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
Spencer Schwellenbach: +1300 (bet $10 to win $140 total)
Cristopher Sanchez: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)
Jesus Luzardo: +2200 (bet $10 to win $230 total)

What to know: Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes was so good last year, he almost won the NL Cy Young as a rookie, finishing third behind Atlanta’s Chris Sale (last year’s winner) and Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler. Skenes’ 1.96 ERA would have put him well below Sale’s league-leading mark of 2.38, but Skenes’ 133 innings pitched did not qualify him to lead in that category. Still, in those 133 innings, he tallied an impressive 170 strikeouts. So far this season, he has 39 Ks and a 2.39 ERA. Recently, the top two names on the oddsboard faced off, but Yoshinobu Yamamoto struggled, recording his worst performance of the season, with only 58 of 94 pitches going for strikes, along with four walks. Aside from that game, Yamamoto has had a stellar start to the 2025 campaign, tallying 43 strikeouts and an MLB-best 1.06 ERA.
