10 Ways to Impress Her on a First Date

    1. Be On Time and Ready

Being punctual is maybe one of the easiest things to do to make an amazing first impression. Arriving a few minutes before, securing a room, or sending in your arrival with the hostess beforehand shows you’re thoughtful and polite. No o a date on the right track with a “greeting” text message that states you’re “almost there” when you’re supposed to be there by then.

    2. Take a Quick Peek (But Not Stalk)

A little preparation never hurts. If you matched on a dating site, just take a quick scan of her profile in advance. Picking up on little things—such as food cravings or hobbies—can serve you well and prevent clumsy missteps (such as offering sushi to a seafood-allergic date). Just don’t overdo it. You don’t want to sound like you’re using her last five tweets as a cram course.

    3. Use Her Name Here and There

Mentioning someone’s name in a conversation gives it a personal, human feel, particularly when dating sites can sometimes feel, well, impersonal. The small thing of, “So, Taylor, how did you end up in the city?” feels truer and more connected than spewing off stock questions.

    4. Ask Real Questions

Don’t make her carry the whole conversation. A little back-and-forth goes a long way. Ask thoughtful questions, especially ones that build off what she’s shared. It shows you’re listening and that you’re genuinely curious about her, not just filling space.

    5. Ease Into Personal Topics

Don’t jump into her past relationships or the number of guys she’s dated from apps—those are going to feel way too personal too quickly. Just keep getting to know her for who she is, not where she’s been.

    6. Stay Cool—Stay Sober Enough to Connect

It’s completely okay to be a little nervous, but arriving drunk or stoned isn’t a good impression. If you do need a drink to unwind, that’s okay—just have one or two. Being present and focused is far sexier than being sloppy or spaced out.

    7. Let the Conversation Happen Naturally

When we try too hard to impress, it tends to have the opposite effect. Rather than attempting to direct the conversation to your greatest stories or achievements, just be yourself. Discuss what you’re interested in and see how things go. Being yourself is more relatable than coming off rehearsed.

    8. Be Honest About How You Feel

If you don’t feel that spark, don’t make a lukewarm promise to meet up again just to be polite. Conversely, if you’re interested in her, propose something concrete for the next time. Being direct—either way—is more respectful than keeping things in suspension.

    9. Manage the Bill Gracefully

When the check arrives, pay for it. Most women act. If she would like to split it, go with that. The key is to be generous without being a big deal.

    10. End Things Thoughtfully

Regardless of how the night turns out, ensure that she makes it home in one piece. Walk her out, or offer to give her a ride home if she doesn’t mind. And if the kiss feels right for the moment, take a chance, if her body language indicates yes. If not, a hug is always safe to end things.

These suggestions, drawn from true experience and feedback from women, are designed not only to possibly also assist you in being your best, most authentic self. First dates are not about being perfect—about being kind, respectful, and open to connection. And possibly also enjoying yourself a bit.
